Rye Y Opens Its Door to YMCA White Plains 

The New Rochelle and Rye YMCAs are allowing White Plains members to use their facilities until the White Plains building is reopened. The White Plains facility has been closed since Saturday when a resident alleged stabbed a security guard to death and then lit himself on fire, dislocating about 100 White Plains Y residents.

Rye School Board of Education Meeting

The Rye City School District Board of Education will meet Tuesday September 3, 2013, beginning at 7:30 P.M. in the Rye City School District Central Administration Building, 411 Theodore Fremd Avenue, Suite 100S, Rye New York. 10580.

It is expected that the Board will adjourn immediately into Executive Session for the review of the employment history of current and prospective employees, negotiations pursuant to the Taylor Law, review of current litigation and litigation strategy.


Rosh Hashanah Starts Wednesday

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, marks the first of Jewish High Holidays.  It begins at sundown Wednesday and lasts two days.

PCCFA Seeking Visual Artists for Art Show

From PCCFA: The Port Chester Council for the Arts is looking for professional visual artists who would like to be considered for participation in our upcoming art show,ART10573 on Saturday, October 12 at Crawford Park in Rye Brook. There are a limited number of spots, and artists should have a connection to Port Chester or Rye Brook—you live, work or volunteer in either village, or you have at some time in the past. Please email three photo samples of your work and one photo of your setup to event chair, Brigitte Loritz, Loritz.brigitte@gmail.com by Sunday, September 15. 

 ArtsWestchester Clay Center Classes

This fall, adults aged 55 and up, and children aged 6-12, can expand their artistic horizons through a variety of arts classes held in downtown White Plains at ArtsWestchester’s headquarters, in partnership with three of its member organizations: Clay Art Center, Pelham Art Center and The Hudson Valley Writers’ Center.  Limited scholarships are available.  For more information, please visit www.artswestchester.org/classes.
