 p\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; In response
 to many community requests over the past few years\, and in an effort to
  meet the evolving needs of the student body\, Blind Brook Middle School
  is happy to announce that the BBMS Drama Club has moved forward with br
 inging forth a musical theater experience to our middle school students
 for the very first time!&nbsp\; Over 70 students\, grades 6-8\,&nbsp\; h
 ave worked together to bring this production to life either on the stage
  as performers or as members of the Artistic Design Crew (making props/
 painting set) and the Backstage Crew.&nbsp\; The Blind Brook Middle Scho
 ol Drama Club has been in effect since 2006 under the leadership of Alli
 e Kaye Dakers and acts as a vehicle for character education through a co
 llaborative theatrical experience based on the values of commitment\, fo
 cus\, and respect.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; This year\, our production team bringin
 g HONK! Jr.from the page to the stage consists of three Blind Brook dist
 rict teachers in the following roles:\nDirected/ Produced by Allie Kaye
 Dakers\nMusical Direction by Kaitlin Carey\nChoreography by Abby Schwitt
 ek\n&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nb
 sp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; We are deep into our prod
 uction process and preparing for our performances of HONK! Jr. by George
  Stiles and Anthony Drewe\,&nbsp\; licensed by Music Theatre Internation
 al.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; HONK! Jr.\, abridged from the original award-winning B
 ritish production of HONK!\, is a contemporary retelling of Hans Christi
 an Andersen's &lsquo\;The Ugly Duckling&rsquo\; and exemplifies a messag
 e of tolerance and accepting differences among individuals.&nbsp\; The s
 tory follows a year in the life of the ugly duckling as he navigates his
  way through bullies at the duck pond\, a hungry cat who wants to make a
  meal out of him\, a flock of helpful geese\, a bullfrog and his froglet
 s who sing a message of unconditional love\, his mother who will not giv
 e up on her son\, and a host of many other characters that bring the sto
 ry to vivid life on the stage.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp
 \;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
 &nbsp\;&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
 &nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Developing an understa
 nding and passion for the theme of the show has been achieved through gr
 oup discussion and artwork created at our early ensemble-building rehear
 sals\, which is currently displayed in our guidance office.&nbsp\; The s
 tudents have expressed that\, through this show\, we may really have qui
 te a positive effect on all of the students of BBMS and aim to be that p
 ositive influence in our community as an ensemble.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Ah\, th
 e power of the theater!&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp
 \;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\n&nbsp
 \;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
 &nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; In addition to the social impact we hope to
  have\, we believe that our musical theater production of HONK! Jr. enri
 ches the growing artistic culture of our school\, provides more opportun
 ities of participation for our student body (45 cast\, 25 crew working i
 n various areas\, both artistic and backstage)\, and will hopefully gene
 rate a large audience to further promote the arts in our district.&nbsp\
 ;&nbsp\; Furthermore\, the three-discipline format (acting\, singing\, a
 nd dance) mirrors that of the current high school drama program and is b
 eing presented at a developmentally appropriate level for the middle sch
 ool population to best prepare our students for participation in the per
 forming arts throughout their time in the Blind Brook district.\n&nbsp\;
 \nTickets are $10.00 General Admission and can be obtained at our Box Of
 fice\, located outside the BBMS cafeteria Monday\, February 6th to Frida
 y\, February 9th from 10:45 -12:45pm and also outside the auditorium 1/2
  hour prior to the performances on February 10th and 11th.\n&nbsp\;\nHON
 K! Junior\, a part of The Broadway Junior Collection\, is presented thro
 ugh special arrangement with and all authorized performance materials ar
 e supplied by Music Theatre International\, 421 West 54th Street\, New Y
 ork\, NY&nbsp\; 10019.
