Why not have each school tax payment per house include X number of children and any over that numberRead More requires additional payment? For example, if the school taxes for each house/apartment in the district included 2 children in the district per legal (taxed) dwelling, and in fact 3 children from that address were enrolled in the district, then that PROPERTY OWNER would be responsible for X additional school tax. Say $4000 per year, per child over the mean of 2 children. If your property produces a higher burden on the district, you pay more. If it is the property owners' responsibility to pay the fare for additional children, then watch how quickly the over crowding of families diminishes.

Those who work and pay taxes because they came here legally should be the example for those thatRead More came here illegally. Why should they be punished because businesses use illegals. And don't forget all of the other benefits that illegals may be receiving illegally.

As an American by birth and education AND a Hispanic by lineage - the explicit call for remunerationRead More in this context gives me mixed feelings. On one hand -- I am offended that someone would suggest that a community that has clearly provided "cost efficient" benefits to many American businesses - at the hands of exploitative practices and contempt - would be required to pay some sort of re-imbursement. How would the author feel about, perhaps, an arbitrary “claw-back” provision on the profits earned by local businesses that have employed an undocumented individual at any time? We can easily establish a whistle-blower hot-line to investigate potential offenders. We should be able to cover the costs that way, no? On the other hand -- I sympathize with the fact that the coming administrative fees are a real concern. I am a tax payer in this community as well. I am also a fiscal conservative. But if this is a 'blame game', and we are looking to point fingers, then we should make room for those entities who fed the sustained influx of migrant workers.

"The Reckson and Megarink folks have brought in PR firms and lawyers and cheerleaders ... toRead More push this down our throats. " Geez, I thought for a moment you were talking about the Starwood proposal in Port Chester.

Bob, we'll miss your voice. But as you can see from "Build the rink" and other flacksRead More posting here for Reckson and the Megarink people, your civic virtues aren't shared by the folks on the other side. So we can use reinforcements whenever and wherever we see them!

Thank you, Dick, for saying you'll leave it to me. I have other fish I'm presently frying and soRead More made comments on this thread only to reflect my assessment of "right and wrong" when it comes to the posted dialog and business positions. So, putting this particular issue back where it belongs, I'll leave it with the residents of Rye Brook to decide how the property within their community boundaries is used.

Hey Willie....Tom Corbia is a retired PC teacher and his wife is a current employee of the schoolRead More district. Got a problem with that?

Concerned View, I am sure if elected Jimmy and the other rocket scientist Tommy will put their headsRead More together and solve all our financial woes. Likely they will figure out how to have an iPad for each student, join the code enforcement guys on overcrowding raids, tie Starwoods negotiating team in knots, and solve global warming. Hey, when most of the retired teachers I know are driving around in Fords, Tommy is cruising around town in a brand new Mercedes Benz, so as a self proclaimed fiscal conservative he must be great at crunching those numbers and stretching a buck!

Suspecting that in the next few years, the school board will be forced to resolve the gap betweenRead More expenses and revenues.

Kim, Elizabeth and Nicole, Thank you for one of the best take downs ever. Couldn't have said itRead More better myself.

In response to Frank Vecchione, Animal Rights is one of the most important issues our country &Read More our world faces. The EU banned seal fur trade, yet still, every year, the Canadian Government permits neanderthal-like men to crush cute Baby Seal Pup skulls with baseball bats. Even though it's not profitable, it happens. In South Dakota, the law can't charge you with a felony for being cruel & malicious to your pets. The pig "processors" pull the pig's teeth out with pliers weeks before the slaughter so they can't chew through the wire, Egg-laying hens are starved to manipulate the laying cycle & their beaks are broken off. In China, they skin animals alive. Some people may not think those things are important because it's not happening to them, but it IS happening to a sentient, conscious, mind-of-a-5-year-old-human being.with emotions and pain sensory & it's important that that's discussed, as unpleasant as it is. People talk about how graphic PETA is, but how is that different than the nightly news showing images of war and/or genocide?

Kim, I'd like to say thank you to you for volunteering your time at the New Rochelle Humane Society.Read More They very much do important work there, and it must be incredibly hard to work there, seeing all those innocent, precious animals every day that just need a loving home. It must be so tempting to bring all the animals home. Thank you to Michael Woyton & Patch for consistently reporting on these animals. They need our awareness & help. I can't believe that people still move without their pets, or get rid of them because someone is "allergic."
