RCDS Pitching Phenom Andrew Waite On A Hot Streak

Waite pitched his fourth consecutive complete game against Hamden Hall Country Day School.

Rye Country Day School junior Andrew Waite is on a hot streak. The starting baseball pitcher has been doing amazing things on the mound and delivering runs off the bases. He's got the whole community fired up.

"The umpires and coaches of the other teams have come up to Andrew saying that he is the best pitcher they have seen all season," said Andrew's father Lee Waite. "The best is the energy level on the entire team. These boys are having a lot of fun."

In recent weeks, Waite has taken out the last three teams Rye Country Day School has faced: Greens Farm Academy in Connecticut, Masters School of Dobbs Ferry and rival Brunswick School of nearby Greenwich, CT.

RCDS took down Greens Farm 10-0 in the fifth inning with only 1 hit and 7 strike outs. Then they mercied Masters 11-1 in the fifth with 11 strikeouts.

Against Brunswick, Andrew threw a complete shut-out, striking out 8 players in the 2-0 victory.

"The kids at Brunswick, Masters and Greens Farm were completely thrown off by his slider and 2 seam fastball," said his father with pride.

Just last night, Waite pitched his fourth complete game in a row against Hamden Hall Country Day School of Connecticut and only had one earned run in 26 innings.

Besides having a great arm and smoking hot season so far, Andrew is a great student: tops in math, already locking down a perfect Math SAT score, and he is hoping to pursue studies in Marine Biology and Primatology.

The RCDS Wildcats play Greens Farms at home this Friday. Waite starts on the mound next Tuesday, May 8.

Other Wildcat stand-out players include Tyler Fernandez, Jeff Grasso, Peter Shu, Alex Gendelman and Stephen Knight.
