No Room at the Inn: Rye Area Hotels Completely Booked

If you were hoping to get a hotel room in Rye, all are booked.

So you've been watching the Weather Channel all morning and started thinking the idea of riding out the hurricane and its aftermath might not be such a good idea. If you thought of checking into a local hotel, too late. Your neighbors did too, and beat you to the draw. All rooms in Rye area hotels are booked.

It's the same story at every hotel in town.

At the , the friendly phone clerk is unequivocal. Are there any rooms available? "No ma'am."

Since early this morning, the phones have been ringing off the hook and desk clerks are also handling walk-ins hoping to find a room. "The more people watch the news, the more they're starting to freak out," said the clerk.

And finally, ...Any rooms for 2 adults and 2 children. "No, we're all sold out for Sunday," I'm told.

 A quick search of Hotels.com reveals you may have to drive as far as Stamford, CT to find a hotel room for under $100 a night. Listings for hotels in Greenwich and White Plains show rooms are scarce in neighboring areas.
