From a free lawn concert to free exercise classes to a look at latest Rye Town Park happenings, from finance to automation, there’s lots going on hereabouts including a free Lives in Transition social, a “Family Dynamics” meeting and a tri-state fund-raising bike-a-thon.

Michael Negrelli, a 37 year IBM veteran, will give free intermediate computer class called “Using the Internet for Pleasure and Information” from 10 a.m. to noon at . Basic computer knowledge necessary for class that aims to demonstrate accessing websites for movies and reviews, music, internet shopping, making online reservations, doing people searches, more including social networking and podcasting. Lives in Transition summer social 7–9 p.m. at will bring together several Cancer Support groups from “Fairchester” area network along with business and job search experts on hand to give and get information in an informal fun setting that includes ice cream, cool non-alcoholic drinks. “Bye Bye Birdie,” rock-accented musical, tonight (and tomorrow night) at 8 p.m. at the Dunn Performing Arts Center at . Play focuses on what happens when an Elvis Presley-type performer and his entourage descend on an Ohio town to meet fan club pre-induction into the Army as part of a publicity stunt.

Friday

Rye triathlon ace Phil Gormley will lead local delegation in fund-raising Tri-State Trek, today through Sunday, through a 280-mile charity bicycle ride to raise money and awareness for ALS/TDF, an organization designed to raise money to fund scientific research and raise awareness about ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. They also support PALS–People With ALS.

Gormley, a fashion industry executive and former Manhattan College swimmer, became involved with the bike-a-thon to help raise funds for Team Friends of Claire, founded in honor of his late sister Claire, an ALS sufferer as well as MAC Angels, supporting families with ALS. 

Trek winds its way through parts of NY-NJ-Conn. and winds up with “Tour de France”-style finale in Greenwich.
