A Painted Stairway to Heaven to Remember Sandy Hook Victims

Rye resident Jimmy Amico and his wife hired an artist to help them honor and remember victims of Sandy Hook Elementary.

As a family that knows the pain and suffering that comes with losing a child, Rye's Amico family wanted to do something special for the families who are victims of the horrific Sandy Hook elementary shooting.

They had well-known Westchester County artist Doug DePierro to paint a stairway to heaven on their dining room window. On Friday, they lit 26 candles around the painting to honor the victims.

The Amicos have published the photo online with the following message:

"We, the Amico Family of Rye, NY, put this on our windo in memory and honor of those beautiful children and adults who lost their lives. We lost our 10 year old son, Jarrid, 6 1/2 years ago when he was struck down while riding his bicycle. Our hearts and deepest sympathis go out to all of the Sandy Hook families affected. We pray for your strenght to survive this horror."
