- School: Rye High School
- Award: National Merit
Twenty-four Rye High School seniors have earned honors in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program, a competition presented by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Six National Merit Semifinalists and 18 National Merit Commended Students earned their respective recognitions as a result of their 2010 Preliminary State Assessment Test (PSAT) scores.
As Semifinalists, Molly Jordan, Alexander Mun, Leo Neuringer, Celia Palmer, Claire Pfister, and Gwendolyn Wiegold are among the highest-scoring entrants in New York State. The status makes these students eligible to be considered for Finalist standing with the prospect of earning one of three types of Merit Scholarship awards.
Commended Students Peter Adams, Casey Berger, Kirsten Colwell, Lauren Creadore, Joseph DeBartolo, Devon DiPalma, Catherine Hedge, Axel Hufford, Madeleine Junkins, Benjamin Lee, Grace Leishman, Taylor Love, James MacKenzie, Benjamin Meyers, Nicholas Philip, Benjamin Schaffler, Victoria Virtue, and Charlie Volow received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their academic promise.
Congratulations to all of these students for their academic achievements that have resulted in recognition from this competitive academic scholarship program.
