County Hosts Household Recycling Days 3/19-3/20

The year's first Household Recycling Day will be held Friday, March 19 from 1-3 p.m. and Saturday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at George's Island on Dutch Street in Montrose. 

For a complete and detailed list of what to bring and what's not accepted, visit www.westchestergov.com/HRD or call (914) 813-5425.

Generally, in addition to chemicals and other special wastes found in a typical household, residents can continue to bring:

  • personal papers for shredding
  • plastic bags for recycling
  • unused medications for disposal
  • empty barbecue tanks
  • Freon-containing appliances (air conditioners, refrigeratoors, dehumidifiers)
  • pesticides
  • cleaning products
  • tires
  • computers
  • TVs
  • old cell phones may be brought in for safe disposal. 

PLEASE NOTE: Waste from businesses or schools will not be accepted. Paint – whether from residents, businesses or schools – will also not be accepted.
